Be a Women's Crisis Center Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us.
Women's Crisis Center volunteers provide crucial services to our clients, staff and programs on a daily basis. Our success rests with the support of our dedicated volunteers.
Our volunteer program offers domestic violence training and many volunteer opportunities, including direct service, advocacy, public education, special events and fundraising. We also offer short- and long-term commitments to match your interests, schedule and skills.
How To Volunteer
All volunteers providing direct services to clients, including counseling on our 24-hour support line or assistance at our shelter must complete our 40-hour training and must be 20 years of age or older. The training is required by the state so that we can maintain our clients' confidentiality. Our volunteers learn and apply valuable skills, including working directly with victims in emergency rooms and hospital settings.
Non-direct service volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers to provide assistance with special events, fundraising and other services. Contact our Development Department, Mary Fisher, at 859-655-2650 x 35 or Email Mary to offer your services and schedule time to volunteer.
40-Hour Training
We offer our 40-hour training three times a year, March, June and October. The 40-hour training is agency-mandated for all direct service staff and volunteers in order to maintain our clients' confidentiality. The training is provided by various professionals, including law enforcement, health-care professional and communication experts. You must be 20 years or older to participate in the volunteer training.
If you are interested in volunteering with WCC, please contact Vicki Hudson, Director of Public Education & Volunteer Services, at 859-372-3578 x 653 or Email Vicki to register and receive an application packet.
Volunteer Training Schedule
This is a 40 hour training and a great opportunity for individuals to gain experience and knowledge of working with rape and domestic violence survivors.
