CALL OUR HOTLINE800-928-3335 (Northern KY) or800-928-6708(Maysville) We can help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We listen to what happened. We give you information and support. We can assist you in contacting the police. Your call is confidential and you can call anonymously. A volunteer is always ready to meet you at the hospital, the police station, or in court.
Get a medical examination - You don't have to make the decision about reporting to the police immediately. But if you think that you might want to report, your first medical exam should be conducted at a hospital so the medical evidence can be collected.
Get some counseling - Call Women's Crisis Center for an appointment with one of our counselors. Remember, the more you understand your feelings about the rape, sexual assault, or abuse, and the sooner you discuss these feelings, the smoother the road to recovery.
Tips to remember:
Do not bathe, douche, shower, brush your teeth, eat, drink, go to the bathroom or change your clothes. Your body contains important evidence. If you decide to report your assault, the police will need this information to pursue the investigation.
Try to recall what your attacker looks like. Try to recall hair length, skin color, scars, tattoos or anything unusual. If a car was involved, try to remember its color, model, license plate number, and the state that issued the plate.
