Sexual assault occurs when you are forced into sexual contact against your will. It may be called by a variety of names including rape, sodomy, incest, molestation, sexual violence, marital rape, date rape, acquaintance rape or others. Sexual assault can happen to anyone, at anytime, anywhere. Likewise, perpetrators of sexual assault can be anyone; an acquaintance, date, relative, stranger, friend, spouse, etc.
Sexual assault is not an act of aggressive sex, but an act of sexual aggression.
What Services Are Available?

Counseling to aid the survivor in expressing thoughts and feelings about the trauma.
Counseling and support to aid family and friends of the rape victim to cope with the trauma.
Therapy services or professional referrals for therapy.
Support groups for survivors of rape, sexual abuse and incest.
Information regarding law enforcement, criminal justice and medical systems.
Advocacy for victims by accompanying them to the hospital, Emergency room, the police station, and to court.
Referrals to the appropriate community resources.
Assistance with Victim Compensation Claims.
How Much do Services Cost?
All services are free of charge. Some long-term services may have a charge based on a sliding scale.
Who Can Use the Services?
Victims of any type of sexual violence which occurred recently or in the past, including sexual assault, sodomy, child sexual abuse (available at some centers), incest, sexual harassment
Female and male victims
Family, friends, partners, or others close to victim of any type of sexual violence
College students attending a Kentucky College or University, even if their home is outside of Kentucky
Is What I Say Confidential?
According to Kentucky Statute, all communication between adult victims and rape crisis center counselors and victim advocates is confidential. However, in a court of law, a judge may overrule some aspects of that confidentiality.
